The Tunis Opera Theatre hosted the opening ceremony of the ninth edition of the Journées Musicales de Carthage (JMC) festival on Saturday evening, running from January 18 to 24, 2025 under the slogan “Feeling the beat”.
The JMC provides a platform for exchange and discovery of contemporary musical creation in Tunisia and beyond.
The Cité de la Culture will host an exhibition, JMC Expo, featuring portraits of the artists and groups taking part in this year’s event and the JMC Market dedicated to exhibitors working in the music industry.
This annual gathering of Arab and African music professionals at the Cité de la Culture is back after a one-year absence. In solidarity with Palestine, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs decided in 2024 to postpone the 9th edition of the JMC until 2025.
The official ceremony for this 2025 edition took place in the grand hall of the Théâtre de l’Opéra, in the presence of the Minister of Cultural Affairs, Amina Srarfi, diplomats and heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Tunisia, as well as festival guests including Arab and African artists and others.
