Monastir: First air show scheduled for July 25 in Bekalta

The “ULM Aircraft” Center in Bekalta (governorate of Monastir) will organise, next July 25, the first air parade, in collaboration with the Tunisian Federation of Aeronautical Sports and Associated Activities (French:FFTSAAA ) and the French Federation of Ultra-Lightweight-Motorized Planters (French: FFPLUM), said pilot and investor in the aerospace sector Ramzi Mestiri.
Testing with two light two-seater aircraft will be carried out at the end of May, he said, adding that recreational aviation tours will now be scheduled on board these aircraft, which will fly over an authorised route Including the city of Bekalta, Sebkhet Moknine, the island of Kuriat in Monastir and the beach of Mahdia where the Amphitheater of El Jem will be visible.
This type of activity will contribute to the promotion of Tunisian tourism and to attract several tourists who have passion for aviation, he said, adding that a marketing campaign for this project has already been launched in France.
Achieved for two years by the private investor Ramzi Mestiri, the “ULM Aircraft” Center (Ultra Light Motorized) of Bekalta, provides 50 jobs. This project, costing 4 million dinars, includes an aerodrome as well as a recreational space for families under development and which will be operational by the end of the year, said the same source told TAP correspondent.
He pointed out that the participants in the first ULM Rally in Tunisia, which took place from 28 April to 9 May, were invited to attend the air show scheduled for July 25. Almost 16 pilots from France, Switzerland and Belgium took part in this rally, which started from Zaghouan to the south of Tunisia via Tozeur, Douz and Zarzis and then the Sahel region to return to Zaghouan.
