The Egyptian Embassy in Tunis, led by Ambassador Bassem Hassan, hosted a solemn and dignified reception to mark the 52nd anniversary of the October 6 Victory — a historic milestone that embodies courage, sacrifice, and the restoration of Arab dignity.
The event brought together a distinguished group of diplomats, officials, and public figures, including the Grand Mufti of Tunisia, Dr. Hichem Ben Mahmoud, and Admiral Abdelraouf Attallah, reflecting the strength of Tunisian-Egyptian relations and the deep mutual respect between the two nations.
The ceremony began with the national anthems of Tunisia and Egypt, followed by the screening of a documentary video showcasing the heroism and sacrifices of the Egyptian Armed Forces during the 1973 War — a defining chapter in the modern history of the Arab world.
In his address, Ambassador Bassem Hassan highlighted the enduring significance of the October 6 Victory as a source of pride and inspiration for all Arabs, reaffirming Egypt’s unwavering commitment to peace, sovereignty, and regional unity. He also praised the longstanding friendship and shared vision that continue to unite Egypt and Tunisia across generations.
The celebration coincided with a telephone exchange earlier in the day between Tunisian President Kais Saied and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, during which President Saied extended warm congratulations to President El-Sisi and the Egyptian people. He commended the October War as a moment that restored national pride and remains an everlasting source of inspiration.
The reception concluded in a warm and fraternal atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of solidarity, mutual esteem, and shared history that continue to define the close ties between the two sister nations.
