A working meeting held on Monday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing focused on monitoring ongoing projects financed by the World Bank in the field of road infrastructure.
Chaired by Minister Salah Zouari, the meeting was attended by Alexandre Arrobbio, the World Bank’s Resident Representative for Tunisia, accompanied by his team. The meeting provided an opportunity to review the progress of a number of projects currently underway, in particular the doubling of National Road No. 13, which links the governorates of Kasserine and Sfax via Kairouan and Sidi Bouzid.
Discussions focused on the progress made in freeing up the land needed for the project, as well as preparations for the launch of the international call for tenders for the sections financed by the World Bank.
The Minister emphasised the need to speed up the procedures for freeing up the land to enable work to start under the best possible conditions and in accordance with the contractual deadlines.
He also called for the publication of the call for tenders in the coming weeks. The meeting, which was also attended by Khaled Atrach, Director General of Roads and Bridges, and several senior officials from the Ministry, examined the prospects for financial and technical cooperation between the Ministry of Public Works and the World Bank over the next stage, with the emphasis on improving the pace of completion of current projects.
