A business-to-business networking event focused on enhancing the packaging of Tunisian olive oil through artisanal craftsmanship and design will take place on May 5 at the Convention Centre in Tunis. The initiative aims to foster partnerships between exporters, designers, and artisans, with a particular emphasis on the ceramics sector.
Organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the event is being held in partnership with the National Tunisian Handicrafts Office (ONAT), the Technical Center for Packaging and Conditioning (PACKTEC), the Export Promotion Center (CEPEX), and the Tunisian Alliance of Designers. It falls under the framework of the Creative Tunisia project, supported by the European Union and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation through the European program Tounes Wijhetouna.
Under the banner of innovation and the valorization of local know-how, the day-long networking session will bring together producers, creators, and export stakeholders around an exclusive exhibition featuring over 30 bottle models. These creations, born from the intersection of contemporary design and traditional craftsmanship, aim to boost the competitiveness of Tunisian olive oil on international markets.
A dedicated B2B matchmaking space will also facilitate long-term partnerships among industry professionals while highlighting opportunities for innovation and differentiation through packaging design.
According to official figures, 88.4% of Tunisian olive oil is still exported in bulk, with only 11.6% packaged and marketed locally. The European Union notes that these figures point to significant potential for creating added value within Tunisia, improving control over the national product’s image, and moving upmarket in key export destinations.
