The Tunisia-Nigeria Business Council (TNBC) was officially launched on the sidelines of the Afreximbank Annual Meetings, held from 25 to 28 June 2025 in Abuja (Nigeria), the Tunisian-African Business Council (TABC) announced on Wednesday.
This new bilateral body, led by the TABC, is part of the overall strategy to strengthen economic partnerships between Tunisia and the countries of sub-Saharan Africa. It aims to establish a structured platform to promote trade, industrial and financial exchanges between Tunis and Abuja.
On this occasion, Chris Eruba was appointed Chairman of the TNBC. His role will be to steer the actions of the Council, with the mission of boosting bilateral economic relations and supporting investment initiatives on both sides.
The TABC underlined the strategic importance of Nigeria, Africa’s leading economic power and a market of more than 220 million people, in Tunisia’s efforts to diversify its African markets. It also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Tunisian companies in their expansion into this high-potential market.
The results already recorded illustrate this dynamic: Tunisian exports to Nigeria have multiplied by more than 11 in one year, rising from 7 million dinars between January and April 2024 to 82 million dinars at the end of April 2025.
Thanks to this performance, Nigeria is now one of the main destinations for Tunisian exports in sub-Saharan Africa, marking a significant step in the African reorientation of Tunisia’s trade strategy.
