Ebrahim Azizi, deputy chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee emphasised Friday that his visit to Tunisia was successful and promising to further develop opportunities for cooperation between Iran and Tunisia.
During a meeting with the press held on Friday evening at the Iranian Embassy in the capital, Azizi said that he and his accompanying delegation met with Parliament Speaker Brahim Boudarbala and Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali Nafti and discussed with them opportunities to sign more cooperation agreements, especially in the cultural field and removing obstacles for traders and businessmen, especially after the cancellation of visas on both sides to develop the economy and tourism.
Azizi highlighted the historical relations between his country and Tunisia, highlighting the convergence of views between the leaderships of Iran and Tunisia, especially with regard to supporting the Palestinian people and their struggle to regain their rights and rejecting the injustice to which they are subjected.
In this context, he praised President Kais Saied’s honourable position regarding his support for the Palestinian cause and his criminalisation of normalisation with the Zionist entity.
He said that Islamic countries are called upon to follow Tunisia’s example in terms of rejecting and criminalising normalisation with the entity, and that Islamic countries should have a unified and comprehensive vision to ensure that the Palestinian people are able to liberate and recover their occupied territories and live a just and secure life.
Regarding the solidarity with the Palestinian people and the rejection of the genocide in Gaza in many Western countries, the Iranian official noted that there is a growing rift between the positions of the people in the United States, France, Norway and others, as the people of these countries demand an end to the war on the Gaza Strip while their officials in their countries refuse to do so.
