Tunisia’s annual inflation rate remained unchanged at 5% in March 2026 compared to the previous month, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) reported.
The stability masks diverging trends: food prices accelerated to 6.8% from 6.7% in February, while restaurant, café and hotel services jumped to 6.2% from 5.6%. Transport services also rose faster, at 2.8% versus 2.1% a month earlier.
Clothing and footwear, however, saw a slowdown, with prices up 7.5% in March compared to 8.9% in February.
Manufactured goods and services contributed most to overall inflation, accounting for 1.6 and 1.4 percentage points, respectively, the INS said.
On a year-on-year basis, fresh fruit prices soared 17.1%, poultry rose 16.7%, lamb increased 14.3%, fresh fish climbed 12.3% and beef gained 10.8%. Edible oils fell 7.3%.
Core inflation, which excludes food and energy, held steady at 4.6%. Unregulated product prices rose 6.1% over the year, while regulated products increased just 1.2%.
