The Tunisian embassy in Ankara hosted a high-level event on Wednesday in Istanbul that promoted the North African nation as a premier destination for medical and wellness tourism and attempted to bolster economic cooperation with Turkey.
It convened on the margins of the Arab-Turkish Economic Cooperation Forum. The meeting united Arab and Turkish entrepreneurs, private sector representatives, medical experts, and specialists. The delegation led by Tunisian Ambassador to Turkey Ahmed Ben Sghaier presented the country’s competitive advantages in the new industry.
Ambassador Ben Sghaier was joined by high-level officials, including Bchira Rhaim, director general of healthcare service exports at the health ministry, and Chahnez Guizani, director general of the national office of thermalism and hydrotherapy, in an overall presentation.
The delegation promoted Tunisia’s top-of-the-line hospital and thermal facilities, medical professionals with high levels of qualification, and reasonable costs as core strengths. They also highlighted the country’s strategic location, rich history, and diverse landscapes as complementary assets for the wellness tourism sector.
The event was also utilized as a networking platform to forge win-win partnerships. Tunisia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement the Tunisian presentation was also accompanied by a promotional video showcasing Tunisia’s health care services to foreign patients and its renowned thalassotherapy centers. The event was welcomed by Turkish counterparts in kind; Bulent Akarcali, ex-Turkish health and tourism minister, and Dr. Aysun Bay, president of the Turkish Medical Tourism Association, both noted strong potential for enhanced cooperation.
