Tunisia–China Partnership: A Driver of Knowledge and Economic Growth

In an interview with TAP, Anis Touati, diplomat at the Tunisian Embassy in Beijing, highlighted the tangible benefits of the Tunisia–China strategic partnership for both citizens and the national economy.

He stressed that Tunisian students now enjoy unprecedented opportunities through academic programs, research exchanges, and initiatives such as Seeds for the Future and the Huawei ICT Academy, which have earned them international recognition. A recent scientific and technological cooperation agreement is also paving the way for greater innovation.

On the economic front, Touati noted that collaboration extends to priority sectors including digital technologies, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, infrastructure, and health. Tunisia’s integration into the Belt and Road Initiative since 2018 has reinforced its position as a regional hub linking Africa and the Mediterranean, attracting investment and boosting competitiveness.

During the China–Arab Salon held in August 2025, Tunisia showcased innovative projects and explored new investment avenues, underscoring the concrete outcomes of this partnership.

Touati concluded that this cooperation combines human development with economic progress, while consolidating Tunisia’s standing on the regional and international stage.
