The TUI Group is accelerating the expansion of its proprietary hotel brand, The Mora, with the announcement of its second property, The Mora Sahara Tozeur, slated to open on November 1, 2025. The new resort, developed in partnership with Qatari Diar, signals the group’s strategic push into high-end, experience-driven hospitality in unique global destinations.
The move comes just 19 months after the brand’s successful debut in Tanzania, demonstrating TUI’s commitment to scaling its concept of contemporary luxury. The Sahara Tozeur location, nestled within a storied desert oasis in western Tunisia, aligns with the brand’s philosophy of offering curated experiences in breathtaking and culturally rich settings.
“With The Mora, we have defined a new kind of luxury – experience-led, contemporary and globally scalable,” said Artur Gerber, CEO of TUI Hotels & Resorts. “The opening of The Mora Sahara Tozeur is another step in our strategy to grow in carefully chosen destinations. The strong guest feedback from our first resort confirms that our approach resonates with today’s evolving expectations.”
The partnership with Qatari Diar was formalized at a signing ceremony in Doha. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al-Ali, CEO of the hotel ownership company, echoed the strategic vision, stating, “We are delighted to collaborate with TUI Hotels & Resorts on this prestigious project. The Mora Sahara Tozeur reflects our shared vision of creating destinations that celebrate cultural heritage while offering world-class hospitality.”
A Destination of Culture and Cinema
The chosen location of Tozeur offers a compelling backdrop for the new resort. Known as a mesmerizing oasis city, it is renowned for its vast palm groves, distinctive architecture, and the historic medina located near the hotel site. The region provides guests with access to centuries-old Berber traditions and natural wonders, including the nearby Star Wars film set at Ong Jmal, a dramatic rock formation rising from the sands.
Resort Amenities and Design
The Mora Sahara Tozeur will comprise 93 elegantly designed rooms and villas, all offering panoramic desert views. The resort is designed to cater to both adults seeking serenity and families on adventure, featuring multiple dining venues. These include three restaurants serving international, local Tunisian, and Asian cuisine, as well as a “Berber Night Barbeque”—an à la carte outdoor dining experience under the stars.
Amenities are tailored for a modern traveler, featuring a fitness centre, a multi-purpose sports court, and ‘The Pause Spa’ offering a range of rejuvenating treatments.
With the addition of The Mora Sahara Tozeur, the brand’s portfolio now includes two distinctive resorts. The Mora is part of the larger TUI Hotels & Resorts umbrella, which manages a global portfolio of over 450 hotels across 40 countries.
