Testour Readies for Ninth Annual Pomegranate Festival

The town in northwest Tunisia aims to blend cultural heritage with economic ambition, using the event to push for a coveted protected origin label.

The town of Testour in the Béja governorate will host the 9th edition of its annual Pomegranate Festival from October 29 to November 2, 2025, organizers have announced.

The five-day event is a cornerstone of the regional calendar, drawing farmers, researchers, artisans, and tourists to celebrate the area’s iconic fruit. The festival is designed to showcase the agricultural, cultural, and gastronomic riches of the pomegranate.

A central goal of this year’s event is to bolster the campaign for a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) label for the “Testour Pomegranate.” The designation would formally recognize the unique qualities of the local fruit and solidify the town’s status as a national production hub.

The festival programme will feature an exhibition and sale of pomegranate-derived products, scientific seminars on the fruit’s nutritional and economic benefits, and conferences on rural tourism and the region’s Andalusian heritage. Artistic performances and folk entertainment will round out the agenda.

Positioned at the intersection of agriculture and culture, the festival embodies Testour’s deep connection to its roots while opening pathways for sustainable economic development for future generations.
