IsDB President and Algerian Minister of Finance discuss strengthening strategic partnership

In a high-level engagement underscoring the strong partnership between Algeria and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, Abdelkrim Bouzred, Minister of Finance and Chair of the IsDB Board of Governors met with Muhammad Al Jasser, IsDB Group Chairman.

The meeting, which took place at the Finance Ministry’s headquarters in Algiers, focused on expanding avenues of cooperation between the IsDB Group and Algeria, with particular emphasis on a new partnership framework that is set to be officially announced during the Bank’s Annual Meetings scheduled to take place in Algiers this May. This framework rests on supporting sectors that drive competitiveness, economic diversification, and private sector development and enhancing partnerships for human capital development and regional cooperation.

The discussions also addressed the resumption of cooperation in financing strategic projects to help advance sustainable development goals and bolster Algeria’s national infrastructure.

Within this context, both sides underscored the importance of expanding railway infrastructure as a key driver of sustainable economic growth, improved quality of life, reduced environmental impact, and enhanced regional integration.

Al Jasser reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to supporting such transformative projects, citing the Bank’s successful experiences with similar projects in other member countries.

Al Jasser also commended the Algerian government for its ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement with the IsDB Group. He extended his gratitude to the Government of Algeria for hosting the upcoming IsDB Group Annual Meetings and for its continued support in ensuring their success.
