Indian Investment in Tunisia: 222 Million Dinars and Nearly 1,000 Jobs Created

A delegation of Indian business leaders met with Tunisian investment authorities this week to explore avenues for strengthening economic ties, with officials revealing that existing Indian projects have already generated significant investment and employment in the country.

The meeting was led by Shabina Sultana, the Honorary Consul of Tunisia in India, and included Jalel Tebib, the Director General of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA Tunisia), alongside a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the talks, FIPA Tunisia outlined the advantages of the Tunisian business climate, highlighting promising sectors for foreign capital and detailing relevant investment procedures.

Tebib disclosed that three Indian companies are currently operating in Tunisia through projects that have mobilized over 222 million dinars in foreign direct investment (FDI) and created 968 jobs.

To build on this foundation, Tebib emphasized the need for targeted actions. “The growth of this presence requires specific measures, such as prospecting visits and joint economic meetings, to strengthen business links and widen the field of cooperation,” he stated.

Echoing this commitment to deeper engagement, Honorary Consul Shabina Sultana pledged to intensify efforts to promote the Tunisian market to Indian investors.

“We intend to ramp up the promotion of the Tunisian market among Indian investors,” Sultana said. She confirmed that additional visits are being planned to support this initiative and foster more on-the-ground connections.
