The 3rd International Poverty Reduction Forum concluded with a powerful reaffirmation of global commitment to fighting poverty, as the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Government of Uzbekistan rallied international leaders behind strategies for inclusive growth amid worldwide economic pressures.
In a keynote address, IsDB President Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser praised Uzbekistan’s transformative progress under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s leadership. “Uzbekistan’s social and economic initiatives stand as a model in the region,” stated Dr. Al Jasser. “Through strategic partnership, we are witnessing real change, where investments translate into opportunities, jobs, and a brighter future for millions.”
The forum served as a platform to strengthen alliances and launch new initiatives focused on youth and women’s empowerment, digital innovation, and knowledge sharing. The IsDB Group, a long-term partner for Uzbekistan, has provided nearly $5 billion in cumulative financing, focusing on critical sectors like agriculture, infrastructure, and finance. In 2025 alone, the Bank directed over $523 million toward high-impact projects in healthcare, education, and rural development.
President Mirziyoyev highlighted the tangible outcomes of the country’s sustained reforms, noting that 7.5 million people have been lifted out of poverty since 2016. The national poverty rate fell to 8.9% in 2024, with an ambitious target of 6% by the end of 2025. “Behind every statistic is a family whose dignity and aspirations have been restored,” the President remarked. “Our journey is powered by innovation, international collaboration, and an unwavering belief in our people’s potential.”
He also welcomed the IsDB’s new 10-Year Strategic Framework (2026–2035), noting its strong alignment with Uzbekistan’s national development goals in job creation, private sector expansion, and social infrastructure.
The forum ended with a renewed joint pledge to advance the Sustainable Development Goals and build resilient societies, underscoring a shared mission to equip communities with the tools for lasting prosperity.
