German Industrial Group LAPP Plans R&D Center in Tunisia Following High-Level Visit

The German industrial group LAPP, a global specialist in cables, wires, and connectors, has confirmed its intention to establish a Research & Development center in Tunisia. The decision was finalized following a visit by the company’s leadership to Tunis.

The delegation was led by Michael Seddig, CEO & COO for the EMEA region, and Seif Allah Rached, Vice President and Head of Operations Harnessing EMEA. They were received by Jalel Tebib, Director General of FIPA Tunisia (the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency), and Hatem Essoussi, Principal Director in charge of promoting high value-added sectors.

LAPP stated its choice was made after in-depth discussions on Tunisia’s economic environment and the conditions for technology-intensive industrial activities. The project involves creating a dedicated R&D structure designed to support the group’s operations across its regional markets.

According to FIPA Tunisia, this decision underscores the country’s growing attractiveness as a base for industrial innovation. The agency cited the competitiveness of the business climate, the availability of a skilled workforce, and the active involvement of public institutions in supporting investors as key factors.

FIPA further reaffirmed its commitment to promoting high value-added projects, emphasizing a long-term partnership approach. This strategy involves coordination with the national ecosystem and support from Tunisian diplomatic missions abroad, notably the General Consulate of Tunisia in Munich.
