ALECSO Launches Digital Training for Arab Education Coordinators

The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) conducted a specialized virtual training session on December 17, 2020, for liaison officers from across the Arab world. The session aimed to enhance coordination and digital management capabilities within the region’s national education bodies.

Officials from 16 Arab nations participated, including Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Iraq, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, and Yemen.

The training focused on the use of ALECSO’s new interactive platform, designed to streamline communication and project management. Liaison officers, appointed by their respective National Commissions, serve as critical links—both between the commissions themselves and with ALECSO’s Executive Board and General Conference Secretariat. Their role includes the electronic management of commission files through the platform’s integrated services.

This digital initiative, established following a proposal by member states and a formal resolution by ALECSO’s Executive Board, allows National Commissions to monitor and engage with ALECSO-affiliated networks of schools, clubs, and academic chairs.

The platform’s rollout follows the official launch of these networks on December 8, 2020, by ALECSO Director-General H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar. That event was attended by secretaries-general of the National Commissions, Executive Board members, and the networks’ liaison officers.

The training marks a concrete step in ALECSO’s drive to modernize administrative coordination and foster deeper educational and scientific collaboration across the Arab region through digital tools.
