Tunisia Celebrates Record Surge in UK Tourists, Smashing Decade-Old High

Tunisia has achieved a historic tourism milestone, with UK visitor arrivals in 2025 soaring 37% above 2024 levels and eclipsing a previous record set over a decade ago.

Official figures released by the Tunisian National Tourist Office for the UK and Ireland reveal nearly 450,000 UK visitors travelled to the destination last year. This total not only surpasses the 2014 high of 425,000 but also represents a staggering 119% increase compared to pre-pandemic 2019.

“This performance reflects a combination of factors,” said Fakhri Khalsi, the office’s deputy director, who confirmed the UK is now Tunisia’s second-largest European source market. He cited “tireless” promotional efforts, strong industry collaboration, and “growing trust in a destination known for its rich heritage and excellent value.”

The record-breaking UK numbers contributed to a strong overall year for Tunisian tourism, which welcomed more than 11 million visitors—a 10% rise from 2024 and a 20% increase from 2019. European arrivals grew by 7% year-on-year.

Officials described the 2025 results as “remarkable” and aligned with strategic goals. Looking ahead, the destination is optimistic that UK visitor numbers will climb even higher in 2026.
