Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, honored Tunisian twins Bisan and Bilsan with the Arab Reading Challenge Award in its ninth edition, during the closing ceremony held at the Dubai World Trade Center.

The grand ceremony also celebrated other distinguished winners: Maria Hasan Ajil in the “People of Determination” category, Sahar Abdel Fattah from Egypt as the Outstanding Supervisor, and Jihad Mohamed Hussein from Italy in the “Expatriate Communities” category. The “Distinguished School” award was shared between Atika bint Zaid School in the UAE and Tripoli Al-Haddadeen Girls’ School in Lebanon.

Launched in 2015 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Arab Reading Challenge is the largest reading competition and initiative worldwide. It aims to cultivate the love of reading among students across the Arab world and beyond, enhance comprehension and self-expression in proper Arabic, and encourage young people to integrate the Arabic language into their daily lives. The initiative also empowers educators and parents to play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of reading among new generations.

Organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, the challenge seeks to instill a lifelong love of knowledge and reading in young people, equipping them with essential skills and insights to shape a better future. Beyond academics, the program introduces students to the values, traditions, and beliefs of different cultures, promoting tolerance, coexistence, open dialogue, and cultural understanding.
