The Embassy of India in Tunis marked Tunisia’s National Women’s Day with a lunch seminar and yoga session led by Ambassador H.E. Dr. Devyani Khobragade at the Hotel Movenpick.
The event brought together an influential circle of Tunisian women leaders, including senior government officials, parliamentarians, diplomats, UN representatives, academics, journalists, and civil society figures. Discussions focused on gender equality, women’s leadership, and strengthening India–Tunisia cooperation in advancing shared values of inclusivity and progress.
In her keynote, Ambassador Khobragade praised Tunisia’s progressive stance on women’s rights and highlighted India’s own achievements, notably the Women’s Reservation Act of 2023 and flagship programs like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Stand-Up India, and Mudra Yojana. She also underscored India’s pioneering role in implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1325, recalling the deployment of the first all-women UN peacekeeping unit to Liberia in 2007 and India’s ongoing efforts to raise female representation in security forces to 33%.
Later, the Ambassador hosted a themed yoga session, “Sacred Feminine: Movement, Breath, and Being”, focusing on women’s holistic health, particularly menstrual and reproductive well-being. The session attracted diplomats, MPs, health experts, yoga practitioners, and activists, blending mindfulness with empowerment.

The Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to fostering global partnerships that promote women’s rights, leadership, and wellness.
