Tunisia’s economy grew by 1.8% in the third quarter of 2024 compared with the same period last year, while the number of tourists rose by more than 8.6% in 10 months.
Tunisia’s economy grew by 1% compared to the second quarter of this year, the National Institute of Statistics reveals.
According to preliminary estimates, economic activity recorded a 1.8% increase in GDP, and the institute said that after the failure of agricultural production in recent years as a result of difficult climatic conditions, agricultural activities recorded a significant improvement, growing by 10.6% on an annual basis.
Growth in the industrial sector reached 1.6 %, due to the increase in the agri-food industry by 3 %, the chemical industry by 3 % and the mechanical and electrical industry by 2.8 %.
The growth rate of the local economy is expected to reach 1.6 per cent this year, following the improved performance of the agriculture and tourism sectors in the second half of this year.
He said that the growth target for 2025 is to achieve the desired economic recovery, and the growth estimates for 2025 include growing the economy by 3.2 per cent.
