Tunisia was crowned First in the world with 60 gold medals and 4 silver medals in the Afro-Asian International Competition for Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
The competition organized by the Swedish Global International Olive Oil Competitions (GIOOC) was held in Abu Dhabi from 1 to 4 April 2025 with the participation of 16 countries.
Tunisia has won 53 gold medals in the quality category, 7 gold medals in the healthy olive oil category and 4 silver medals, Co-Founder and CEO of the Swedish Startup GIOOC AB (Global International Olive Oil Competitions) Raouf Chouket told TAP. Greece has ranked second and Spain third, he added.
Tunisia took part with 65 samples out of a total of 200 extra virgin olive oil samples from the various participating countries.
The international jury for this competition is composed of 10 experts from Tunisia, Italy, Spain, Greece, Morocco, Turkey and Jordan.
In addition to Tunisia, 14 countries were in the competition, namely, Greece, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Croatia, Algeria, Libya, Turkey, Morocco, Jordan, Lebanon and the Sultanate of Oman.
