Dr. Riadh Gouider, one of Tunis’ most well-known neurologists, has been elected First Vice-President of the World Federation of Neurology (WFN) at the World Congress of Neurology in Seoul from October 12 to 15.
His election, which he secured against an Australian opposition, is a historical feat for Africa and the Arab world since he becomes the first Arab neurologist from the region to be elected to such a position. The appointment is a testament to his unparalleled scientific achievements, leadership, and unstinting commitment to the advancement of neurological science and education.
As Head of Neurology at Razi University Hospital and Director of Tunisia’s Multiple Sclerosis and Alzheimer’s Centre, Professor Gouider has played a key role in developing Tunisia’s neurological infrastructure and facilitating scientific cooperation within the Mediterranean region.
