According to data published on Wednesday by the National Agricultural Observatory (ONAGRI), Tunisia’s revenues from date exports rose by 11.4% to 342.2 million dinars (MD) at the end of December 2024 compared to the same period last year.
Date export volume in the first three months of the 2024/2025 campaign (until end-December 2024) reached 51.3 thousand tonnes, up 10.5% from last year. The average price at the end of December 2024 increased by 0.7% to 6.67 TND/kg compared to 6.62 TND/kg at the end of December 2023.
Morocco was Tunisia’s main destination in 2024, representing 19.7%, followed by Italy and Turkey at 7.5% and 6.8% respectively.
Organic dates generated 18.9 MD in the first three months of the 2024/2025 campaign, with 1,901 tonnes exported and an average price of TND 9.94/kg.
Their share in Tunisia’s total date exports is 3.7% and 5.5% in quantity and value respectively, ONAGRI added.
Germany is the main destination for organic dates, accounting for 25% of the quantities exported. The Netherlands and Switzerland follow with 19% and 14% respectively.
