The 7th edition of the MyFirstDoc in Tunisia international film festival, dedicated to documentary films, will take place from December 24 to 27, 2024, with a selection of 22 documentary films by emerging filmmakers from 15 countries, showcasing the very best of young documentary filmmaking, each time renewed and enriched by new styles, new forms of narration and aesthetics, in tune with today’s world.
Organized by the Association Cinéma Documentaire tunisien, the festival offers a diverse program featuring films from Tunisia, Algeria, Bahrain, Belgium, Egypt, the United States of America, France, Japan, Jordan, Lebanon, Macedonia, Morocco, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland and Yemen, with a program that invites you to take a sensory, cultural and heritage stroll over four days at the Cinémathèque Tunisienne, but also in the regions: Bizerte, Djerba, Gabes and Nabeul.
The diversity of the films selected is presented as journeys across all continents, from the search for identity and the relationship between generations, between traditional culture and modernity, to the transformations of our lives in the wake of economic and ecological crises.
Several of the films selected highlight the passion for animals and the exceptional bonds that humans develop with them. Some films tackle the new economic and cultural precariousness of immigrants who have left or been driven out of their countries, when exile and internal migration come together. Films that explore the new uses of virtual communications and how their links with the robotic world can raise the question of humanity.
Some directors also propose journeys under the sign of dance, through different musical trance practices of yesterday and today, while others show how devotion to popular theater can be considered by actors as a way of life.
