Tunisia and Libya have agreed on restoring the Libyan oil-for-Tunisian goods mechanism, according to Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui.
He said on Thursday that a Tunisian delegation visited Libya to discuss this form of co-operation and negotiations are underway for a fair partnership serving the interests of both countries.
Speaking to reporters after a hearing by the parliamentary committee on rights and freedoms in the context of the budget debates, the minister said Tunisia has exerted every effort to encourage the Libyans to resume dialogue table under the auspices of the United Nations.
“But unfortunately, the situation today is far from this noble goal,” he indicated. The ultimate goal is to help the Libyans to reach the solution by themselves, he went on saying.
