In a high-level meeting on the sidelines of the 3rd International Poverty Reduction Forum, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, pledged to strengthen their strategic alliance to advance inclusive economic growth and development.

The leaders reviewed a robust partnership that has already directed nearly US$5 billion in cumulative IsDB Group financing into pivotal sectors of the Uzbek economy, such as transportation, agriculture, and finance.

President Mirziyoyev expressed strong appreciation for the Bank’s support of his nation’s reform agenda and lauded Dr. Al Jasser’s leadership in guiding the IsDB’s new 10-Year Strategic Framework. He emphasized the synergy between the Bank’s priorities and Uzbekistan’s national goals, particularly in job creation, private sector development, and social infrastructure.

Highlighting the tangible impact of this collaboration, President Mirziyoyev noted that over US$523 million has been mobilized for projects in 2025 alone. He proposed a new, ambitious comprehensive cooperation program for 2026–2030 to further expand the IsDB portfolio, focusing on infrastructure, social services, and private sector financing.

In response, Dr. Al Jasser commended Uzbekistan’s transformative reforms, describing the country as a regional model for progress. He reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to amplifying its support through increased investments and enhanced private sector engagement.

“I commend the visionary leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, whose bold reforms have profoundly transformed Uzbekistan’s economy,” stated Dr. Al Jasser. “The Islamic Development Bank is proud of this deep partnership and stands ready to scale up our support… to help deliver results that drive economic transformation, strengthen human capital, and foster resilience for the Uzbek people.”

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to intensify collaboration, ensuring continued support for Uzbekistan’s journey toward sustainable development and economic resilience.
