India Showcases Culinary Heritage and Innovation at IFSA 2025 in Tunis

The Embassy of India in Tunisia made a vibrant mark at the International Food Show Africa (IFSA) 2025, held from July 9 to 11 at the El Kram Exhibition Center in Tunis. The Indian pavilion offered an immersive experience into India’s rich culinary traditions and its rapidly evolving food industry.

Under the banner of “The Indian Corner,” the exhibit invited visitors on a flavorful journey through India’s diverse regional cuisines—from the bold, aromatic dishes of Punjab to the globally renowned teas of Assam. Alongside culinary displays, the pavilion emphasized India’s technological advancements in food processing and agro-industrial innovation.

A highlight of the event was the visit of Tunisia’s Minister of Trade and Export Development, Samir Abid, who was warmly received by Devyani Uttam Khobragade, Ambassador of India to Tunisia. During the visit, the Ambassador presented a curated tour of Indian food culture and processing technology, showcasing both traditional spice routes and cutting-edge modern innovations.

Demonstrations included the use of advanced food processing equipment such as ice cream machines, with live insights from R&D engineers. Among them was Mr. Deepak Pamnani, who engaged with visitors on technical aspects and India’s expertise in the field. The presence of Indo-Arab Trading Private Limited, represented by Mr. Basil Y. S. Baradeiya, and Golden Praxis, represented by Executive Director Mr. Prajith Moorkoth, highlighted growing business ties. Both companies are actively involved in food trade, distribution, and brand support between India and international markets.

The Indian pavilion attracted a diverse array of guests, including ambassadors, entrepreneurs, and food industry professionals, fostering dialogue on potential partnerships in agro-processing, machinery exports, sustainable agriculture, and culinary exchange.

The Embassy of India emphasized that its participation at IFSA 2025 reflects India’s commitment to deepening trade and development ties with African nations, particularly Tunisia. As the global food economy continues to evolve, India’s blend of tradition and innovation stands out as a promising avenue for collaboration.

“We remain committed to strengthening Indo-African cooperation through initiatives that combine culture, innovation, and mutual growth,” said Ambassador Khobragade.
