At the closure of the 25th edition of the Carthage Theatre Days, the Tunisian play “Toxic Paradise”, directed by Sadok Trabelsi and produced by the Tunis Opera Theatre (Pole of Theatre and Dramatic Arts), won the Golden Tanit (Grand Prize).
The great theatrical event closed on Saturday evening with a ceremony at the Opera House of the Chedli Kelibi Cultural Centre, in the presence of the Minister of Culture, Amina Srarfi, and numerous artists and authors from Tunisia and several Arab and African countries.
Three other prizes went to Tunisia: Best Actor for Ramzi Aziz, Best Actress for Mariam Ben Hassan and Best Screenplay for Elyes Rabhi and Sadok Trabelsi.
The jury awarded Anas Abdul Samad’s play ‘The House of Abu Abdullah’ from Iraq with the Silver Tanit. Ahmed Amine Sahel’s play ‘La Victoria’ from Morocco won the Bronze Tanit.
Syrian actor, director and writer Duraid Lahham also received an award, which was accepted on his behalf by Thamer Arbadi, dean of the Syrian theatres, and theatre artist Ombroise Mbia, dean of the Cameroon theatres.
From Tunisia, theatre and television actress Wajiha Jendoubi was honoured at the closing ceremony of the Carthage Theatre Days, along with Issa Harath, Lamine Nahdi, Mongia Taboubi, Alia Harrar, Halima Daoud and Bechir Kahwaji.
