Arab Artists Union for Cinema and Video Unveils Teaser of “Marriage or Funeral”

The Arab Artists Union for Cinema and V ideo has released the official teaser for the upcoming film Marriage or Funeral, directed by Amira Diab. The film is set to premiere in Egyptian theaters on September 24, before hitting cinemas across the Arab world on September 25.

Blending social drama, comedy, and suspense, Marriage or Funeral follows two families with nothing in common except kinship. Forced to spend seven days together at a picturesque destination in preparation for a lavish wedding uniting their children, the story unfolds with humor, tension, and unexpected twists.

The project marks the feature-length directorial debut of Amira Diab, who also co-wrote the script with Dina Maher. Maher expressed her enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting Diab’s strong vision and engaging character development. “We had many creative sessions experimenting with different ideas until we reached the final form that audiences will soon see on screen,” she explained.

She added, “What made this experience unique is that Amira and I shared the same vision of what we wanted the film to deliver. I’m grateful she made me part of the creative process, because it’s always better for a writer to experience the settings firsthand rather than imagine them from scratch. It was an enjoyable journey full of learning.”

Maher also noted the team’s careful balance between message and humor: “We relied on situations and the clash of contrasting personalities to generate laughter. Bringing together characters from different worlds naturally created moments of comedy and suspense that audiences will relate to.”

Marriage or Funeral features an impressive ensemble cast, including Nelly Karim, Sherif Salama, veteran star Lebleba, Lebanese actor Adel Karam, Intissar, Mahmoud El-Bezawy, Amir Salah El-Din, and Donia Maher, among others. With its fresh mix of social romance, comedy, and drama, the film promises to deliver an engaging cinematic experience aimed at attracting diverse audiences across the Arab region.
