Energy Minister Mustapha Guitouni announced, Wednesday in El Oued, that his department is about to launch the operation to export electricity to Tunisia.
Speaking on the sidelines of a two-day working visit to the province, the minister said that Algeria is becoming self-sufficient in electricity, adding that his department is about to launch the operation to export electricity to Tunisia.
Inspecting the project to build a 220/400 KVA transformer substation in the town of El-Fouilia, Reguiba commune, Mr Guitouni said that the energy programs launched since 1999 have resulted in a production of 1,220 MVA, only one third (496 MVA) is exploited by the population of the province.
