I had the immense privilege of visiting the vibrant and dynamic country of India as a journalist from Tunisia as part of a special cultural immersion program hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs of India. My journey took me to the heart of Bengaluru, where I was welcomed to one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, the Taj West End resort.
Nestled in the bustling city, the Taj West End is far more than a hotel — it is a sanctuary of nature and history. Originally established in 1887 by a British couple, Mrs. and Mr. Bronson, as a 10-room inn, it has gracefully evolved into a five-star heritage resort that still preserves its colonial charm while embracing the soul of modern India. Today, it is managed by the renowned Taj Hotels group, known for its luxury hospitality rooted in Indian tradition.
From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the lush greenery that defines the property. The resort is essentially a botanical haven, home to century-old trees, vibrant tropical flowers, and carefully preserved gardens that echo serenity and elegance. Walking through its winding paths felt like stepping into a living painting.

Water features and swimming pools are thoughtfully placed throughout the resort, providing both beauty and a sense of calm. The architecture is another highlight — a harmonious blend of colonial elegance and traditional Indian design, offering guests a sense of timelessness.
One of the most unforgettable aspects of my stay was the culinary experience. Dining at Taj West End is a sensory celebration. The fragrant spices of Indian cuisine danced through the air, with each dish telling a story of regional flavors, heritage, and the country’s love for food. Whether it was a rich curry or a delicately spiced biryani, every meal was a discovery.
Upon arrival, the hospitality was truly moving — a warm welcome with fresh flower garlands, especially the fragrant jasmine, made me feel instantly cherished. This attention to detail and deep-rooted cultural respect are part of what makes Indian hospitality so unique and heartfelt.
As my visit to India came to a close, I was filled with gratitude. I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to the Embassy of India in Tunisia, especially to Her Excellency the Ambassador of India, whose kind recommendation allowed me to take part in this enriching journey. This experience has not only deepened my appreciation for India’s culture and heritage but has also left me with memories that will last a lifetime.
