Navy unit rescues 11 Tunisians in southeastern Kerkennah Island

A unit of the National Navy, on Monday, rescued 11 Tunisians in the southeast of the island of Kerkennah after they asked for help.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of National Defence, their age ranges from 17 to 29 years.

They said they sailed through the night between August 25 and 26 from the coast of Zarzis, to illegally cross the maritime border to the Italian coast.

They were taken to the port of Zarzis and handed over to t.he local National Guard to complete the legal proceedings.
