Eddy Taieb, Chairman of Avialys, a French company specialising in information technology, cybersecurity, computing and telecommunications, paid a fact-finding visit to Tunisia on January 30 and 31, 2025, to look into the possibility of setting up a research and development centre dedicated to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity, as well as an AI laboratory in Tunisia, according to the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA Tunisia).

Mr Taieb was received on January 31, 2025 by FIPA’s Director General, Jalel Tebib, at the agency’s headquarters. On this occasion, Mr Tebib pointed out that Tunisia is seeing a significant increase in the number of start-ups specialising in AI that have succeeded in raising funds to develop their technologies, following the example of the start-up Insta Deep, which has conquered the world, and Enova Roboctics.

He also highlighted the country’s potential thanks to its talent, its geographical position and Tunisia’s ambition to become an AI innovation hub, linking Europe and Africa. He also reiterated FIPA’s readiness to assist Avialys and support it in all the steps needed to set up operations in Tunisia.
