Tunisia will make its first appearance at Libya’s inaugural Fezzan Conference, running November 24-26 in Sabha, with the Tunisia-Africa Business Council attending as guest of honour, Council President Anis Jaziri told TAP.
Sabha as a gateway to Africa
The council said its participation forms part of a wider effort to deepen economic ties with Libya and unlock new prospects for Tunisian companies in southern Libya. It noted that Sabha has historically acted as a trade corridor to sub-Saharan Africa.
The council also views Sabha as a possible bridge linking Tunisia to markets in Niger, Mali and Chad.
Projects across key sectors
The conference is expected to present projects in infrastructure, energy, agriculture, industry, trade and logistics, including the development of logistics zones.
Tunisian firms could seize the opportunity to build partnerships with Libyan companies and use southern Libya’s strategic location to boost the flow of goods and services toward African markets.
Tunisia-Libya trade up 11%
Trade between Tunisia and Libya reached about 2.892 billion dinars in 2025, up 11% from 2024. Tunisian exports to Libya stood at roughly 2.469 billion dinars.
Tunisia’s exports to African countries totaled 6.882 billion dinars in 2025, compared with 6.406 billion dinars in 2024.
The Tunisia-Africa Business Council’s role in the Fezzan Conference follows several economic activities it has organized or attended in Libya, particularly in Tripoli and Misrata, as part of efforts to strengthen business links between the two countries.
