French aerospace group expands Tunisian footprint with new centre of excellence, complementing CEMIA as its local workforce tops 1,000.
French aerospace manufacturer Figeac Aero announced on 28 September 2026 that it has opened a new centre of excellence for aerospace training at the Mghira aerospace hub in Ben Arous.
The opening was attended by GITAS, Tunisia’s Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, FIPA-Tunisia and German cooperation agency GIZ, according to Figeac Aero.
The new facility is located at the same site as CEMIA, the Centre of Excellence for Aerospace Industry Skills, which has been operating at Mghira since 2017. Figeac Aero said the new centre complements CEMIA, strengthening aerospace training capacity at the Tunisian hub.
Figeac Aero has been present in Tunisia since 2011. The group employs more than 1,000 people in the country, out of approximately 4,000 employees worldwide.
The company did not disclose investment, capacity or enrolment details in the announcement.
The new aerospace training centre reinforces the Mghira hub’s role in skills development and adds to Tunisia’s growing aerospace industrial base. It also builds on Figeac Aero’s long-standing presence in the country, where the French group is a major employer.
