Tunisian Aerospace Showcases Growing Global Role at Hamburg Aviation Forum

The Tunisian Aerospace and Aviation Industries Group (GITAS) underscored Tunisia’s active and expanding presence on the global aerospace stage at the Hamburg Aviation Forum 2025, held December 10-11. The group’s participation served as a strategic hub for engagement with international contractors, suppliers, and industry leaders.

The GITAS stand functioned as a central meeting point, facilitating discussions that highlighted the innovation, performance, and development potential of the Tunisian aerospace supply chain. International interest was evident through shared success stories from both Tunisian and global aerospace firms operating in Tunisia, reflecting the maturity and growing attractiveness of the national ecosystem.

The first day featured sustained networking with key international players. The stand hosted the representative of FIPA-Tunisia in Germany, a partner in the participation, and Mr. Nizar Jebabli, Consul of Tunisia in Hamburg. Talks focused on development prospects and cooperation, particularly within the German market.

Discussions gained strategic depth on the second day with a visit by representatives of the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI). Constructive talks centered on the German aerospace market and opportunities for diversifying and expanding the Tunisian supply chain’s access to it.

Exchanges also spotlighted new sector qualifications, including Aero Excellence, and the rising importance of cross-cutting themes like air cybersecurity—now key levers for competitiveness and international positioning for Tunisian firms.

The delegation presented a now-mature sector structured around engineering, industrial production, and maintenance activities. Tunisia’s aerospace ecosystem comprises over 80 companies, is largely export-oriented, and generates more than 20,000 direct jobs.

Beyond infrastructure, a key emphasis was placed on Tunisia’s human capital. Discussions highlighted the critical role of engineering schools and specialized training centers in supplying the sector with highly skilled, adaptable talent that meets international standards—a major pillar of the country’s competitiveness in the global race for talent and tech investment.

GITAS’s participation was supported by the “Invest for Jobs – Decent Work for a Just Transition” program, under the “Partnerships for Employment and Support for SMEs in Tunisia II” project. This initiative is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ Tunisia, under the supervision of the Tunisian Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy.

The forum also served to promote the upcoming Aerospace Meetings Tunisia, a major B2B convention scheduled for July 7-9, 2026, in Tunis. FIPA-Tunisia and GITAS extended invitations to international participants to engage with the Tunisian ecosystem and connect local firms with global markets.
