Omani Minister’s Tunisia Visit Aims to Forge New Economic Partnerships

A high-level Omani economic delegation, led by Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Qais bin Mohammed Al-Yousef, began an official visit to Tunisia. The two-day trip, undertaken at the invitation of Tunisia’s Minister of Trade and Export Development, marks a significant push to deepen economic ties between the two nations.

In a statement, Dr. Hilal bin Abdullah Al-Sanani, Ambassador of Oman to Tunisia, framed the visit as a reflection of “the commitment of both countries to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding economic and investment partnerships.”

Minister Al-Yousef’s agenda is packed with meetings with key Tunisian ministers overseeing the economy, planning, energy, industry, and mining. Talks are expected to focus on concrete measures to boost trade volume, enhance industrial collaboration, and unlock joint investments.

Sectors Targeted for Growth
Officials identified several high-potential sectors for cooperation, including technology, manufacturing, renewable energy, tourism, logistics, and food security. A central topic will be the facilities and incentives available to private sector companies in both countries, aiming to remove barriers to business.

The cornerstone of the visit is the Oman-Tunisia Economic Forum, held Friday, December 5. The forum is designed as a direct bridge between Omani and Tunisian business leaders and investors.

Economic Forum to Showcase Opportunities
At the forum, Omani officials present detailed investment opportunities within the Sultanate, highlighting its special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities. Conversely, Tunisian representatives outline their country’s investment climate and incentive packages.

Ambassador Al-Sanani expressed hope that the event would “strengthen direct communication,” lead to new commercial partnerships, and foster cooperation in SMEs, the digital economy, and supply chains. The ultimate goal is to lay the groundwork for future bilateral agreements.

The Omani Embassy in Tunis has pledged its full support for the visit, reaffirming its role in facilitating outcomes that “propel relations toward broader horizons of constructive cooperation.” The visit underscores a mutual strategy to diversify economic alliances and build resilient, future-oriented partnerships.
