Knowledge Diplomacy Strengthens the Strategic Partnership with Tunisia

Every year on October 26, the Sultanate of Oman celebrates Omani Youth Day, a national occasion that reflects the country’s ongoing efforts to empower young people as key partners in shaping the future and achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040 through innovative programs and initiatives in education, entrepreneurship, and digital media.

In this context, a delegation from the Omani Journalists Association visited the Republic of Tunisia from October 12 to 18 to participate in a specialized training course on digital and mobile journalism. The program aimed to develop the skills of young journalists in modern media and strengthen professional exchange between the two countries.

The visit coincided with a cherished national occasion that embodies the wise leadership’s deep commitment to empowering youth in all fields. Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has emphasized in his speeches that “youth are the foundation of the present and the hope of the future; through them, nations are built, and aspirations are achieved.” This vision is translated into action through the tireless efforts of Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, who continues to expand the horizons of youth empowerment through national programs and initiatives focused on creativity, technology, and media.

Oman has made remarkable progress in youth development. More than 60% of its population is under the age of 35, and around 48% of high school graduates pursue higher education. The number of young doctors and engineers has also risen by over 35% in the past five years, underscoring the country’s commitment to human capital development.

On this occasion, Dr. Hilal bin Abdullah Al-Sanani, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of Tunisia, affirmed that this progress reflects a national vision of investing in Omani people as the greatest asset for sustainable development.

“Omani Youth Day is not merely a national celebration,” he said. “It is an annual reaffirmation of our faith in the ability of our youth to shape the future. We take pride in their achievements and have full confidence that the next generation will continue the journey with determination and devotion to our beloved Oman.”

The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Tunisia continues to strengthen media cooperation between the two countries through growing partnerships with the Tunis Afrique Presse News Agency, the Tunisian Television Corporation, Dar Assabah, and other youth-focused institutions. These collaborations contribute to developing media competencies and promoting the exchange of expertise in digital journalism.

Concluding his statement, the Ambassador noted that Omani-Tunisian relations are witnessing renewed dynamism in youth, sports, and training cooperation—reflecting the strategic partnership between the two nations. This collaboration is embodied in continuous efforts to enhance the exchange of expertise in youth empowerment policies, entrepreneurship, and innovation programs, with discussions underway to launch joint youth exchange initiatives that promote creativity, scientific collaboration, and knowledge-sharing between cultural and research centers in both countries.

In the sports sector, the two nations are moving toward deeper cooperation in training, sports medicine, and organizing joint tournaments across various disciplines. Omani coaches and administrators are also benefiting from advanced training courses offered by Tunisia’s highly experienced sports institutions.

This multi-faceted collaboration reflects a shared commitment to building a comprehensive partnership that invests in the energy and potential of youth, empowering them to lead the path of development in both brotherly nations, in line with their common vision for sustainable growth and prosperity.
