Tunis to Host ‘Fashion Paws’ Show, Merging Catwalk with Animal Welfare

In a novel fusion of high fashion and social advocacy, the capital is set to witness the first-ever “Fashion Paws” event, a charity fashion show designed to champion animal welfare and promote a more compassionate society.

Launched by Mawahib El Mellouli in collaboration with the Baladi Al-Artha association and supported by Afaq Al-Fann, the event aims to use the universal appeal of fashion to shift public perception on animal rights. Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, El Mellouli stated the goal is not merely entertainment, but to “raise awareness about the urgent need to combat violence against animals.”

The initiative goes beyond the runway glamour. It advocates for practical solutions, including sterilization and vaccination campaigns to manage stray animal populations and curb the spread of rabies. A key partnership with the National Institute of Veterinary Medicine in Sidi Thabet has been established to ensure these procedures adhere to legal and scientific standards.

Scheduled to coincide with World Animal Day on October 4, “Fashion Paws” carries significant symbolic weight. The show will feature pets on the catwalk alongside presentations of innovative accessories for cats and dogs, creating a space where art and social consciousness converge.

Held under the honorary presidency of Hind Al-Chouch and hosted by Reem Chaker, the event promises to be both a stylish spectacle and a powerful call to action, urging Tunisians to build a more empathetic world for all living beings.
