In a significant move to expand its global footprint, Chinese automotive technology leader JETTY Automotive Technology Co. LTD has inaugurated its first manufacturing facility outside of China in Borj Cedria, Tunisia.
The new plant, spanning 8,000 square meters, is projected to create up to 800 jobs by 2026. It is slated to supply high-tech components to several major international automakers, including Volvo and Chery.
Company executives cited Tunisia’s skilled workforce, strategic geographic location, favorable regulatory environment, and strong institutional support as the key factors behind the investment decision. JETTY, which holds over 1,000 patents for its advanced automotive products, stated that these advantages solidified Tunisia’s position as the ideal location for its first overseas production base.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Tunisia’s Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, alongside representatives from the private sector and national institutions. The Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA-Tunisia) also participated in the event.
In a statement, FIPA highlighted that this investment strengthens economic ties between Tunisia and China. The agency said the plant reinforces Tunisia’s role as a competitive automotive hub in the Mediterranean and reaffirmed its commitment to guiding foreign investors through all stages of their projects in coordination with public and private partners.
