The Tunisie Professionnelle program will be implemented in close synergy with the Tunisian Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training.
The strategic partnership between Italy and Tunisia in the vocational training sector was strengthened Friday in Tunis with the signing of the financing agreement for the Tunisie Professionnelle program.
The 6.5 million euro agreement was signed by Italian Ambassador Alessandro Prunas and Lassaad Ben Hassine, the representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Tunisia. Isabella Lucaferri, the director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation’s (AICS) regional office in Tunis, was also present. This agreement marks a new phase in Italian-Tunisian collaboration, aligning with the principles of the Italian government’s Mattei Plan for Africa. The Tunisie Professionnelle program will be implemented in close collaboration with the Tunisian Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, highlighting the shared objectives and collaborative approach of the two countries.
The Tunisie Professionnelle program is designed to enhance the Tunisian vocational training system, aligning it more closely with the demands of the labor market and fostering economic and social progress in the North African nation. This funding is intended to promote the updating and adaptation of training courses, ensuring that the skills acquired by young Tunisians align with current and future business demands. The program also focuses on improving infrastructure and equipment to provide modern, functional learning environments. The program also aims to enhance instructors’ skills through specialized training and refresher programs and to facilitate job placement by strengthening ties with the private sector.
The implementation of the Tunisie Professionnelle program within the framework of the Mattei Plan highlights Italy’s strategic approach towards equal and mutually beneficial cooperation with African countries, as reiterated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The Mattei Plan, in fact, promotes sustainable development and stability through partnerships that enhance local resources and contribute to economic and social growth. In this context, vocational training plays a central role as a tool for youth empowerment and the creation of opportunities. The collaboration with UNIDO, an organization specialized in inclusive and sustainable industrial development, adds further value to the program, ensuring implementation based on international best practices and a holistic approach to skills development.
This agreement represents more than just financing; it is an investment in Tunisia’s future and the strength of the Italian-Tunisian partnership. The joint commitment of the Italian Embassy, AICS, UNIDO, and the Tunisian Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training will translate into tangible results for young Tunisians. They will gain the necessary skills to overcome the challenges of the labor market and contribute to their country’s development. The Tunisie Professionnelle initiative presents itself as a virtuous model of cooperation, demonstrating how shared commitment can generate positive, lasting impacts and strengthen ties between nations while promoting sustainable growth.
