Number of Migrants Arriving in Greece from Turkey up 200 per cent
The number of migrants arriving on the Greek islands from Turkey since this August is up 200 per cent compared to the same period last year. Hundreds of Tunisian policemen demonstrated on Friday in the central city of Sfax, demanding that parliament adopt a law on “protecting” them which civil groups have called “dangerous” for democracy. A Tunisian police officer who was stabbed in the neck by a suspected Islamic extremist has died of his wounds Thursday, less than 24 hours after the brazen attack that shook the north African country’s capital. Turkey detains 281 illegal migrants in nationwide operations
A total of 281 foreign nationals were taken into custody in Turkey on Wednesday for illegally being in the country, according to security sources. Turkish coast guard units in the western coastal province of Izmir held 54 people, including 38 Syrians and four Afghan nationals who were trying to cross the Aegean Sea in a dinghy. They set off from the Didim district of Aydın and attempted to illegally reach Greek islands. Tunisia: Banque de l’Habitat gets market regulator’s greenlight to raise $40mln from its shareholders
– Tunisia’s housing bank, Banque de l’Habitat, has obtained the approval of the Financial Markets Council to increase its capital by 68 million Tunisian dinars (TD), thus bringing it to 238 million TD ($95.5 million). The capital increase will take place partly through the issuance of 6.8 million new shares, at a unit price of 15TD.
