The Tourism and Handicrafts Ministry has allocated a 950 thousand dinar-budget, i.e. a 3.8% increase compared to the previous year, to promote domestic tourism in 2017.
The promotional campaign’s first stage started on April 3, while the second has been conducted since May and will continue till the summer season. The third stage will begin in December as part of boosting domestic tourism at the end of year period.
This budget will be earmarked to the signing of 45 joint advertisement conventions covering 15 markets.
As regards the promotional operations in Tunisia and abroad, 42 promotion actions were recorded aimed to encourage partnership with travel agencies, sales networks and different partners of Tunisia abroad.
40 media tours were organised for 187 journalists from different media and 31 prospecting trips benefited 1,128 travel agencies and tour operators.
As for strengthening air transport, the cabinet meeting pointed out that the reinforment of air links is today one of the promotion mechanisms to boost the Tunisian destination.
Some 17.5 MD of the competitiveness development fund’s resources were devoted to the tourism sector in 2016. This programme helped according to the statistics presented during the RCM, support 1,512 tourist trips, 22 tour operators working with 13 tourist markets, with the Russian and Ukrainian markets on top recording a noteworthy improvement.
A 5-MD budget of the fund of assistance to the tourism sector’s competitiveness went to to the programme of air links’ reinforcement in 2017.
