The community run, scheduled for September 28, will promote the vision of a Developed India and feature a tree-planting ceremony as a symbol of green solidarity.
The Embassy of India in Tunis will host a “Viksit Bharat Run 2025” on Sunday, September 28, 2025, an event designed to celebrate the strong friendship between India and Tunisia and the national vision of a Developed India.
The 2.5-kilometer community run will commence at 10:00 hrs from the Embassy of India at 4 Rue Didon, Mutuelleville, and conclude at the entrance of the Tunis Belvedere Zoo Park around 11:00 hrs. The event is expected to draw approximately 100 participants from the Indian diaspora, Tunisian citizens, and local dignitaries.
A Program of Solidarity and Sustainability
Before the run, H.E. Dr. Devyani Khobragade, the Ambassador of India to Tunisia, will deliver brief remarks and administer the “Viksit Bharat Pledge” to the Indian community. In a highlight of the day, the event will incorporate the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (One Tree in Mother’s Name) initiative.
Ambassador Khobragade will plant a sapling within the Embassy grounds and symbolically distribute plant saplings to community members to encourage wider environmental participation. She will then officially flag off the run.
The Embassy has extended invitations to senior Tunisian officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Municipality of Tunis, and Members of Parliament, with some expected to attend as Chief Guest or Guests of Honour.
Open to the Public and Media
Organizers state the run aims to foster a sense of unity and shared purpose between the Indian and Tunisian communities. Media opportunities will be available at both the start and finish points of the event.
The Embassy has issued an open invitation, welcoming media representatives and the public to join in this celebration of progress, environmental consciousness, and the enduring India-Tunisia friendship.
