Forbes Middle East 2026: Mahdi Haloui of ONTT Named Among Top Travel and Tourism Leaders

Forbes Middle East names ONTT’s Mahdi Haloui among its 2026 Top 100 Travel and Tourism Leaders as Tunisia records 11.3 million visitors and US$2.8 billion in tourism revenue.

Forbes Middle East has included four executives from Tunisian and Moroccan organisations in its 2026 Top 100 Travel and Tourism Leaders, with Mahdi Haloui, Director General of the Tunisian National Tourist Office (ONTT), returning to the list for the second consecutive year.

The annual ranking recognises leaders across tourism, hospitality, aviation and public-sector organisations in the Middle East and North Africa. Forbes Middle East evaluates candidates on factors including the size of their organisations, operational and financial performance, leadership experience and strategic achievements in 2025 and 2026.

Haloui, appointed ONTT Director General in 2025, leads the public body responsible for supporting tourism development in Tunisia and promoting the destination in international markets.

In its profile of the Tunisian tourism chief, Forbes highlighted Tunisia’s 2025 performance: 11.3 million non-resident visitors, up 10.4%, and tourism revenues of approximately US$2.8 billion, up 6.5%, according to data from the Central Bank of Tunisia.

The recognition comes as Tunisia continues efforts to promote and diversify its tourism offering, from seaside holidays and cultural heritage to the discovery of its different regions.
