Drama production, an engine of development and a promoter of cultural heritage
Tunis hosted on Monday evening the launch ceremony of the Beijing-MENA TV series and films broadcasting season, in the presence of officials of the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau, the President and Director General of Tunisian Television, the Director of Television of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) and a large number of media professionals and people of art and culture.

Speaking on the occasion, Zhang Su, Deputy Director General of the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau, emphasised that the event is an important showcase of cultural exchange and cooperation between China and Tunisia and an important milestone in radio and television cooperation between China and Arab countries.
Su explained that high-quality content is a major driver of cooperation between China and Arab countries, with films and series such as ‘My flight to you’ produced by the huace group, whose Arabic YouTube channel has exceeded 100 million hours of viewing with more than 1.04 million subscribers.
For his part, Director General of Tunisian Television Chokri Ben Nsir praised the level of cooperation and strategic partnership between Tunisia and China through the Tunisian Television Corporation and the China Radio and Television Corporation, through a number of cooperation agreements, exchange of programmes and documentaries, exchange of expertise and training in modern technologies that have risen to the stage of co-production.
Ben Nsir expressed his aspiration for new mechanisms for radio and television co-operation in order to enhance industrial integration in this field.
Director of the Television Department at the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) Nabiha Bensaleh reviewed the various forms of Arab-Chinese cooperation in the media field, especially through the various sessions of the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and the agreements that have been signed, including the mutual promotion of Arab and Chinese television productions and the exchange of expertise and knowledge. She noted that since 2016, the Arab Radio and Television Festival has witnessed distinguished participation from the Chinese side.

The event was also an excellent opportunity to discuss future cooperation and cultural exchange between China and Tunisia through a panel discussion involving Chinese Deputy Editor-in-Chief JIA YAO, MEA General Manager Jing Wang, and Tunisian producers Sofiane Charni and Haifel Ben Youssef, who discussed the importance of promoting through music and drama production the cultural and civilisational heritage of the two countries, as well as their distinctive tourist destinations, especially to young people.
