He has only a few years of study and research in Canada, after the National Engineers School of Tunis (Enit) diploma, he is elected “Energy Manager of the Year 2017” in Toronto. Nasreddine Guerfala has a very promising future ahead.
“I graduated from Enit in June 2010 as an industrial engineering engineer and ranked as one of the laureates of my class. I started working at Leoni in Sousse. A few months later, I was contacted by the Tunisian University Mission in North America (Mutan) which was looking for candidates for continuing higher education studies in Canada.
My application for a master’s research was accepted by a professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Sherbrooke who had a good experience with other Tunisian students, I immediately decided to leave.
It was a good opportunity for me to discover a new country, get a graduate degree while receiving a scholarship. Success did not take long.
After obtaining my master’s degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Sherbrooke in 2012, I worked in several companies in Quebec and Ontario (Toronto) in the field of energy efficiency. Most recently, I was elected “Energy Manager of the Year 2017” in Toronto and graduated from Ryerson University in Toronto in 2017 with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
To overcome the difficulties of integration in the local community and the Quebec and Canadian society, I joined clubs and associations in the university campus. I was named president of the Engineering Graduate Group, which was the largest graduate association on campus. This has greatly facilitated integration and transition for the labour market.
At the professional level, although my integration into the job market was fast, registration in the Order of Engineers of Quebec required a lot of work and passing some exams. Fortunately, I succeeded. Just as in my transfer from a French-speaking province to an English-speaking province. I had planned to obtain a Master of English Language Certificate Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) and practising English at work since I have been in Quebec.”
