Germany’s Scherdel Group Returns to Tunisia on Second Investment Scouting Mission

German industrial technology group Scherdel has carried out a second visit to Tunisia to examine potential location and investment opportunities in the country, according to a statement from the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA-Tunisia).

The delegation was received by FIPA-Tunisia Director-General Jalel Tebib. It was led by Marcus Bach, Managing Shareholder of the group, and accompanied by Mariem Bougabrine, who handles DEinternational projects at the Tunisian-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK).

FIPA-Tunisia said the visit formed part of a strategic prospecting effort aimed at deepening the group’s assessment of Tunisia’s economic environment, the skills available in the local labor market and the incentives and advantages offered to foreign investors.

The mission follows a first exploratory visit in January 2026, signaling renewed interest by the German group in Tunisia’s investment potential.

Founded 130 years ago, Scherdel is an international industrial group employing more than 7,000 people across 35 production and research and development sites.

Its activities cover fields including forming, assembly and joining technologies, surface treatment, and the design and manufacture of machines, tools and industrial installations.

FIPA-Tunisia said the second visit marked a further step in exploring the group’s potential establishment in Tunisia. However, no investment decision or implementation timetable has been announced at this stage.
