Tunisia Targets 3.1% Economic Growth in 2027, Economic Budget Report Shows

Tunisia is aiming for 3.1% economic growth in 2027, up from an expected 2.7% in 2026, according to the 2027 Economic Budget Report. The government submitted the report to the Assembly of People’s Representatives and the National Council of Regions and Districts.

Per capita income is forecast to rise from TND 15,605.7 in 2026 to TND 16,735.9 in 2027. The investment-to-GDP ratio is projected to increase to 16.4% from 15.5%, while foreign direct investment is expected to reach TND 4.8 billion, up from TND 4 billion.

Exports of goods and services are set to grow 8% in 2027, compared with 7.5% in 2026, while import growth is expected to slow to 7.9% from 10%. The trade deficit is projected to narrow to 3.7% of GDP from 3.9%.

The government expects inflation to ease slightly to 5.2% in 2027 from 5.3% in 2026. It also aims to cut unemployment to 14.5% from 14.9%, youth unemployment to 35% from 35.4%, and graduate unemployment to 25% from 26.6%.

Tunisia revised its 2026 growth forecast down to 2.7% from an initial 3.3%, citing weak performance in phosphate and energy, climate pressures and global economic developments. The report identifies the main challenge as strengthening the economy’s ability to withstand shocks through accelerated structural reforms.
